I am interested in contacting any direct Anderson Male descendants whom have done Y-DNA testing in Scotland but mostly my interest is in the Logie-Mar, Logie-Coldstone and Strathdon areas which would also include Tarland and Milgive, Aberdeenshire Scotland.

I am a believed descendant of 'Scot" Robert Anderson  who was transported to the Colonies in America in 1716 after being captured in the 1715 Jacobite Uprising.  During capture Robert Andeson stated he was from Logie-Mar.  He has a believed brother Charles Anderson also  captured stating he was from Logie.

For our Andersons Clan Y-DNA it is for only Anderson male direct descendants.
Y-DNA is only passed from and to the Male direct descendants. So only a direct Anderson male descendant can be successfully tested and matched with Y-DNA test. I have taken the Family Tree DNA Y-DNA 67 marker test with the result of R-CTS11722 (L1335 Pictish). I have also just completed the ScotlandDNA (based in Britain) Chromo 2 Y-DNA test. results: YDNA Haplogroup is R1b-S530 “Pictish” my subtype is R1b-S695.

If you are a Anderson male whom descends from  these areas and have done DNA testing or you are interested in DNA for Anderson conformation genealogy please contact me.

Very Respectfully
Ray Anderson

Hello Kiwi -   I think we have chatted before, but its been some years.

I think my husband's family are related to yours -  his ancestors come from the Migvie area.    We still live in Aberdeenshire about ten miles away from Migvie.

Is there anything I can do to help you?

Hello Ray -   leave it with me for a couple of days so that I can look through the names peoperly.

Logie Mar and Logie Coldstone are not the same place,   and Logie and Coldstone would have been two separate communities in the early 1800s.    As far as I can remember Logie Mar would have been nearer Braemar than the Tarland area.

I'll give it some thought and check my records before I come back to you.

Hello Kiwiceltic - I think that my husband's family are the family you are looking for.  He was born in the Tarland area and several generations of his family were born and lived at Broombank, Tarland and this is in the same area as the Andersons you are looking for.  The Slack is an area on the outskirts of Tarland and there are quite a few properties in that area. The other area you mention is actually called Migvie and it is at the other side of Tarland,  beside Logie Coldstone,  although they all border each other around this small village.

There are three distinct Anderson Families in the area,  however they are also connected through marriage so they can be quite complicated to seperate,  I'm still convinced that they are related to each other if we could just go that far back.

Would you like me to send you my database of Andersons?
Sorry  I have not  gotten back  to you Dorothy, have had  health  issuses to deal with, yes please  for your ANDERSON  database information.

Hello Kiwiceltic,
I'm not sure how old this thread is, but its apparent that we are related. My GGG Grandparents were William and Barbara Anderson (m. April 11, 1807 Logie Coldstone).
My late Uncle compiled a very thorough database. If you're still following this thread please let me know and I will pass any info I have. My Grandmother emigrated to Canada after WWI so there are many desηendants throughout Canada. I will be travelling to Logie Coldstone in a few months and am hoping to contact any relatives in the area.
