Leonard J Strangwood - R.G.A.
« on: Tuesday 08 June 10 22:41 BST (UK) »
I just found one of my 2x Gt Uncles served in WW1 and he served in the Royal Regiment of Artillery (RGA). I was wondering what they did or what their role was during the war? Also did he get medals or honors?

Leonard was one of the lucky ones he died in 1974. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Tyrone  ;D

Below is the link to the LLT page for the Artillery:

http://www.1914-1918.net/cra.htm

His medal index cards can be downloaded from the National Archives:

He was discharged and granted the Silver War Badge with the RGA.
He was awarded the British War and Victory Medals and the 1915 Star for his earlier service with the Herefordshire Regiment.

Unsure on that theres a great handwritten letter in the docs stating he was invalided from Gallipoli(Suvla Bay) with shrapnel wound and dysentry
Served with 1/1st Hereford Regiment who were Territorials.http://www.1914-1918.net/hereford.htm
