Aitken - marriage 1909
« on: Wednesday 23 June 10 19:51 BST (UK) »
Hi List,

I have a Thomas Gebbie Aitken who married in Second quarter (April, May, June) of 1909.

They are on the 1911 Census, as being married 1 year, so found their marriage listed under Poole 5a 653. His spouse is listed as Maggie b. 1877,  Stonehaven, Kincardineshire.

Is there a way to find her maiden name without buying the marriage certificate?

Thank you for any advice,
Glen

Hi Glen,

How about this for a match.?

Marriages Jun 1909  MAIN  Maggie Isabella A     Poole  5a 653

A search on Free BMD using just the district, volume and page numbers brought up the names, AITKEN was not full transcribed so did not show on a name search

Hi Jebber,

Yes, that looks like her. I didn't think of looking just under 5a 653. Checked out the 1881 Census for Stonehaven and there she was.

   Thank you very much,

    Glen
