Hi J from Canada

Your great grandfather Frederick Loweth's brother, Isaac, is my great grandfather.   My grandfather is Septimus Loweth.

Hi Maxey Mill,

I am a keen student of the Loweth family and am most interested in your posts. I am confused, however, between two Isaac Loweths, one born in Yaxley in 1843 and one born in Stilton in 1895.

Am I right in thinking that your great grandfather Isaac was born in Yaxley in 1843 to Robert and Elizabeth.  I can find no record of them having a son Frederick.

The second Isaac, born in Stilton in 1855 to Richard Bellamy and Sarah Ann did have sons Isaac, in 1855, and Frederick, in 1863, however I can find neither of these having a son Septimus.  Am I missing something vital here?  John

Hi John,

Maxey Mill was in error in thinking that his great grandfather Isaac Loweth and my great grandfather Frederick Loweth were brothers. Septimus was the son of Isaac who was, as you have correctly identified, the son of Robert (and Elizabeth). My Frederick was the son of Richard Loweth (and Sarah Ann) and his father was Valentine Loweth. As you likely know, Frederick and Isaac were common names (and common to this family in particular) and my great grandfather Frederick did have a brother named Isaac- but not the Isaac Loweth related to Maxey Mill.

Hope this is helpful!

Hi Joanna,

Thank you so much for clarifying this for me.  I did wonder if I had gone off the track on the various Isaacs.

I am still having troubles with Septimus and his siblings. The name suggests the seventh born but I think that I can identify more than that.  Nothing is simple in genealogy is it!

Thanks again,

John

You might find this site helpful  http://www.maxeychurch.co.uk/l.htm where some of the Loweths are Buried.  I belive that Isaac lived at Maxey Mill which he passed on to his son Ben.  http://grasmere-farm.co.uk/maxeymill.php

Septimus George Cecil Loweth was my grand father.  His wife Gladys Mary Loweth (nee Keen) had two sons Francis David Loweth and Arthur Norman Loweth (Possibly, also a boy that died after only a week)

I think this is a picture of Septimus Loweth.
