NORRIS/CRAIG Grafton Street Londonderry
« on: Friday 06 August 10 20:44 BST (UK) »
My Grandfather John B Norris b 4 May 1872 was an Architect in Londonderry Corporation ... married Mary Craig 27 March 1902.
Looking for more information on the Craig side ... maiden name may be Irwin?
She had a brother and sister.
There was an Art & Photography shop, believed to be run by Mary and her brother?

Their son John married Minty, date unknown, they had a daughter Idabel ... John & Minty moved to Belfast, at one time lived in Sunningdale Park, Belfast.

Their daughter Mary b 1908 d 1962 married Bob Lloyd, family details unknown.

Their son Arthur was my dad ... born 22.4.12 died 16 November 1958, lived in Marlborough Road Londonderry

Would love to hear from anyone with any information about these people.

Thanks

Their marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation.

Thanks to both of you ... I am very grateful.

PS I was always told I was named after an Erwin connection, so now I know it was true.  Made my day  :)

Hi. I have just discovered that Andrew Craig is the father of Thompson Craig and William Erwin is the father of Eliza Erwin, therefore grandparents of the bride and groom. It took me a while to find the connection  but it explains kingskerswell posting.

I am following the same tree as eddienorris but I think it would be better on the Antrim board as Thompson Craig and Eliza Erwin lived and were married there.  Does anyone have any further information on Andrew Craig  (probably a farmer as his son was) - and William Erwin?

As I am not very good with the technical stuff, can I ask the moderator to move this onto the Antrim Board as I will mess it up if I try. Please  :)  and thank you  :)
Paternal : Norris, Craig, Erwin, McCorkell
Maternal : Bunting, Castles, Stevenson, Warren, McKenna

Hi Eddie, just came on your enquiries by accident, I am Idabel, my mum and dad were John and Minty Norris, My dad died 6th June 1985 and mum died 1st November 1988, it would seem you are one of my long lost 1st cousins, I've often wondered what happened to allof your family, I'm afraid i dont have any info about our grandmother's family, my dad hardly ever talked about  his family tree, I just know her name was craig before she married and her grandmother was Erwin before her marriage, I also remember my dad saying that a few generations before that there was Eton, the family who went to Toronto and started up the famous Eton's stores, but i think that was a great great great? uncle, one step sideways from direct ancestors, dad only mentioned it once and that was on the way home from aunty Mary's funeral so it is a bit hazy. I hope this is of some interest to you and if you find anything more I would be very interested, also I will do the same.
