Marriage Witnesses

Hello All,
In the 1890s (1892 to be specific) how old did someone have to be in order to be a witness at a Espicopal wedding? By "witness," I mean a person who is listed on the General Register Office Entry of Marriage.
Thanks for any information regarding same.

As I understand it, as long as the person named as a witness is able to understand what is taking place there was no age limit.

I have heard that people have found witnesses to marriages as young as 12 !

Have checked with my Oracle and it gives lots of info about witnesses but no minimum age is specified

Personally I have to agree with Suey, I dont think there was a minimum age to be a witness - as long as the person understood what they were doing and was able to record their signature or 'mark'
