They're not in the SP records Allan - I checked 3 pages of them - all Roxburgh shire from 1835-1842 using soundex and no first names.

Others are welcome to have another search but....................

Marcie - Jedburgh is about in the middle - maybe if you climbed the hills

Hi again

I've found Mary (1835) with her ? Grandparents  (John and Mary Ormiston) in Kelso on the 1841 - 793 ED 2 Page 9

Do you have the others?  I'm trying to get a feel for the family.

Here are the others, incidentally just a few doors away from the grandparents:

(Click previous household twice)

I’m working on the baptisms by the way, just looking through some of the non-conformist churches.

Allan, do you know where they where in 1851?

Hi Allan,

Would your Douglas's have been gypsies, there were many of them in Kelso and surrounding area... and still are, most of whom were related to the old gypsy families. They would hop back and forward into Northumberland.

In my friends tree she has a three g aunt Esther Ormiston b 28/11/1813 Kelso to John Ormiston (shoemaker) and Mary Marshall his wife who married in Kelso 28/5/1807. Don't have any further info on her though.

Doesn't help with your query I know but might be a connection.

Hi Allan

I think this is your family in 1841 Kelso, Roxburghshire
(Esther /Elizabeth were interchangeable).

DOUGLAS Robert M 29 Baker Roxburghshire
DOUGLAS Elizabeth F 27 Roxburghshire
DOUGLAS William M 4 Roxburghshire
DOUGLAS James M 2 Roxburghshire
DOUGLAS Janet F 2m Roxburghshire
ORMSTON William M 30 Nailmaker Journeyman Roxburghshire

(All born Roxburghshire)

Gadget found Mary with her maternal grandparents in 1841 and Mary is the only name missing from here and the ages are correct for the other children.  ???

Added...Just realised Emma had already given this info ::)
