Mr ANDERSON
« on: Saturday 28 August 10 03:06 BST (UK) »
Im looking for a death of Mr Anderson - born 25th May 1925, Opunake, New Zealand - he died supposedly "sometime in the 1980's, somewhere in New South Wales" after having abandoned his second family.

He may have been listed as C P Anderson or even C Gillbanks.

Any help would be most appreciated.

regards
Richard

Hi
The limit of the online death indexes in NSW is 1979
You can look for yourself for the name.
Perhaps you know his PARENTS names which may help.

It may also be of help to explain to us where the GILLBAKS possibilty comes from.

Hi Sue - ive tried that page several times and nothing jumps out.

His parents names were Charles Anderson and Dorcas (nee Gillbanks),
the chap i am looking for is my mothers father - he had bailed on his first
wife and daughter, and then also on my grandmother (cant say i blame him there LOL)
and 5 other children. He was apparently a bit of a bad bugger and may have used
his mothers maiden name as an alias.

Its merely for curiosities sake (and to fill in a blank) that i wish to find where he is
buried, he may have even taken on another wife and had more children for all we
know (nothing would surprise me there).

cheers
Richard

Hi Richard,
There are several C Andersons listed here but none jump out as being yours and there are no C P's. I also checked under Gillbanks, butthere is only a Lorraine listed.

Siouxsie - thanks for your help there, i had also checked that site as well, there is one that does pop out as it is also my uncles name:

ANDERSON R C
19 JUL 1984

How would i go about finding old Sydney Morning Herald obituaries ? it might be only a coincidence but he coulda been using his sons name the dodgy old bugger, believe me nothing would surprise me.

Hi Richard,
I noticed you were in NZ so I looked up the Sydney Morning Herald on the NZ National Library Website of all NZ library holdings and lots of libraries hold it. Hope this link works....

http://nzlc.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?v1=7&ti=1,7&Search_Arg=sydney%20morning%20herald&SL=None&Search_Code=GKEY^*&CNT=25&PID=S2g-1-3VM1YZ5_0Bc45ifcmNhBQ&SEQ=20100828155405&SID=1

Well......the link didn't work.......so, head to the National Library's website!!!!

Cheers

it turns out there is a rumour that the old bugger is still alive at the age of 90, what they say about only the good dying young seems to be true...now to try and find out if this is true (have been told he's somewhere in North Queensland), nothing would surprise me if he all of a sudden did show up :)

Well if he is still living, then your enquiry is for a living person.  I will let the moderating team know, as it is a no no to display names of living people at RChat.

gotcha, but i have some concerns that the source of the rumour that he's still alive may well be telling porkies....every family has that person don't they? :)
