The marriage record that I have found is to a James M Howells in 1918 in Llandeilofawr, Mar qtr 11a p. 1721

there is another potential marriage:
Mary Ann Thomas and John William Howells on the same page (in freebmd) in 1899
Llandilofawr 11a 1247  :-\

Assume you have the marriage of Job Thomas and Margaret Davies at Llangadog Parish Church on 13th April 1827?
Yes I have seen this on a film of the Bishop's transcripts for Llangadock at the family research centre of the Church of the latterday saints locally.
Brian

I assume that you have found the family in 1871? Llandovery/Llangadock (Llangadog) reg district/sub-district - Job b1803 Llandilo with Margaret b1843 Llanddeusant, William b1866 Llangadock and Mary b1869 Llangadock.

If you contact the local registry office and ask for birth certificate for Mary born ca 1869 with father Job and mother Margaret from the Gwynfe/Llangadog area, they will do a search.
Sorry to be naive - local to me or Carmarthen?

I am fairly sure this one can be ruled out as I have never seen the name Ann on any record. I have a copy of a marrige certificate of a James Morris Howells and a Mary Thomas at Llanegwad on 20 March 1918. The redords only quoted Llandeilofawr as I remember. It is clearly the wrong Mary. Any use to anyone?

These replies to my posts are giving me other angles for searching as I have plenty to learn about that I am sure. I have emailed record offices and their replies have been spasmodic. Do you suggest that they might be prepared to answe a specific and veryoccasional query.
