James Beatty
« on: Friday 17 September 10 01:36 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone.  I'm searching for information on James Beatty.  I found him in a 1901 census in house 7 in Kilmore West (Aghabog, Monaghan) along with his wife Anne Jane Beatty (nee Doran) and five children., Susan Jane, John, Robert Hamilton, Annie Mary and James.  In 1914 my grandfather (Robert Hamilton Beatty) emigrated to Canada aboard the S.S. Grampian bringing with him his mother and sister Annie.  Anne Jane was listed on the manefest as being a widow.  Susan and John emigrated to Canada in 1906 and James in 1927.

I have been unable to find any record of the family between the census in 1901 and the sailing of the Grampian in 1914.  I cannot find a death record of James nor a 1911 census for the family.

If anyone can help me, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Here's the link for 1901 census-

Only 4 children- Susan Jane, John, Robert H. and Anne Mary are listed in the census.

Here's Robert, mother and sister in the same place in 1911-

Using James' age in 1901 census there are 2 possible death registrations-
James BEATTY (age 70) July/Sept.1902 Cootehill registration district volume 3 page 72
James BEATTY (age 70) Oct./Dec.1901 Cootehill registration district volume 3 page 79

Thank you so much for the information aghadowey.  The site you posted was the site I found the 1901 census info but couldn't locate the 1911 census.  Maybe the 1911 info was added after I searched.

I will search out the death records you have found.

Again thanks very much.  It is very much appreciated.

The 1911 census actually came online first. I couldn't find them in 1911 right away because Robert is listed as Robt.

I probably made the mistake of searching for James who was deceased at that time.  I should have looked for my ggmother or my grandfather.

Where did you find the info on possible death registrations?

I'm about to look into where and how to come up with bmd certificates for my Irish ancestors.
Thank you.

Hi,
I did research the same family and I think you will find that James(the son) actually emigrated to Canada in 1904  followed by his brother John and Sister Susan in 12906 and the his mother, Robert and Anne in 1914.

Do you have any information on James Beatty's parents?
Regards
Terry
