FORAN family
« on: Saturday 25 September 10 23:48 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am researching John Foran who was born in old Kings County IRE,I don't know the village, in 1819, according to the 1861 & 1871 UK Censuses.   He married in Ire. 1838, name unknown , who was mother to Catherine, Mary, Ann and William.

He married in 1856 Ellen ? and they moved to Manchester Eng in 1858 & had 2 children Ellen, and Martha.

Any assistance to identify John's parents, Village, siblings & 2 wives surnames would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Diane Goldsmith

The dates are all pre-registration in Ireland but to find Ellen's maiden name you could get one of the birth certificates of the children born in England.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi
Thank you for responding, I appreciate it.  Yes, I may very well do that, but before I spend loads of money, I wanted to try other options first, if anyone had old church registers, etc.

Have a good day,
Diane

To check parish records you need to first establish the family religion and where in Co. Offaly they lived i.e. parish, town or townland. Once you know this you can check to see if any records exist for the area you are interested in.

I'm 100% certain they were Roman Catholic, but part of my query is to establish where they may have been from.  Forans were found all over Offaly Co, and I have the names of several villages that are possibilities, due to the numbers of Forans there.

Thanks for your response
