thomas hanwell. can't find his birth

Can anyone give me some advice. I'm looking for the birth of Thomas Hanwell born 1859 Marylebone. His father was Charles Hanwell According to his marriage cert. He died  St Pancras 1923 & stayed in the area all his life..

Haven't found him on 1861. Got him on 1901 & 1881 With all the family I know he married twice 1878, widowed & married again 1883. Have his death cert 1923 all says he was born marlebone ( found both marriages on igi) online 1837 no trace of birth

All born LONDON

So you need to find them in 1891 

And this is them in 1881 

26 Porter Street, Soho

Thomas HANWELL 22 painter b.Marylebone
Elizabeth wife 22 b.City
John son 1 b.West End (how helpful is that!)

.............I'm just trying to get the picture as there are two Thomas HANWELLs of the same age in London and the other one married an Elizabeth too

Which marriage certificate do you have?  Date, address, occupation, father's name & occupation, witnesses

Hi Again Casalguidi,
They are one & the same. He was married to Elizabeth Pluckrose in June 1879 & had son John. Elizabeth died 1882. He married Mary Ann Scott (very quickly?) may 1883. I have the second cert he was living at 3 St Anne's court: widower:  occupation paper hanger (runs in the family my father his grandson was paperhanger/ painter too) father Charles Hanwell occupation Plasterer

It's a puzzle   

Might it be a case of obtaining details from the first marriage certificate (if you're sure it's the correct one) to see if there is any further info ie. address on there

Yes I think your probably right. I thought just getting the second one might help me. it did but not that much. There was a very large family of hanwell's in marylebone all painter's/plasterers etc  Thanks for the help

Hi ,
I have been working on a HANWELL family as well so thought I would post some more info:
Perhaps you need to get films from your Family history Centre ( LDS) as the folk below were mostly christened as adults ! - the ages are not always accurate on the Censuses so my money is on the Thomas below.
You might also like to contact the fellow who has a TREE on the web who has my branch listed there - lots of plasterers amongst them!
