Completed with Thanks Sunny Bank
« on: Monday 25 October 10 22:27 BST (UK) »
 ??? Hi all, i'm trying to find the location of Sunny Bank, Glyntaff, Pontypridd, which is, according to the 1891 census, the place where my great great grandfather William Exon resided. It seems to be near  The Royal Oak Pub along Merthyr Road. Has anyone else located this place on old maps etc. and maybe point me in the right direction. Your answers would be most appreciated. :)

Hi,Thank you for your reply, a very interesting article on Sunnybanks on the witchurch website. Unfortunately i dont think this is the place i am looking for. I am looking for Sunny Bank not Sunnybanks and it is supposed to be near the Royal Oak pub on Merthyr Road in Pontypridd. Your reply was very much apprieciated though.
                                             Many Regards

Hi
penny has now dropped!  ::)
Merthyr road Pontypridd is the road leading from  Glyn Taff up to Cilfynydd Royal Oak is on the left hand side has you go up the road it looks down on Trallwn. My suggestion is you e-mail Pontypridd Library they do have maps of ponty in the 1890's that should give you the actual place is or what Sunny back has been changed to.
Glad you enjoyed the article ha! ha!
good luck
cheers cardiff :)

I know this is an old thread but it probably makes up part of Pontshonnorton Road now.  Which was several streets (one of which was Norton Bridge Road), part of it was Police Row in the 1891 census, Police Row Norton Bridge Road, in the 1901 and Pontshonnorton Road in 1911.

Near Brookfield Lane (which is opposite the Royal Oak just near where Pontshonnorton Road starts) there is a house called Sunny Bank

Alternatively there is a Coronation Terrace next to the Oak which apparently used to have a different name
