He married by license, which may give more information if it exists, and he described himself as of 'Hanley'. If he was born there, it could well have been before 1731, when the Sixpenny Registers start. A Mary Prince marries there in 1745, so there seems to have been a Prince family based there.

A marriage license suggests he may have the money to leave a will. There are Princes mentioned on this thread and I know Lydart has Dorset Princes on her tree.

A William Prince appears to own land in Witchampton (only a few miles from S.H.) in 1714 (and 1684):

Hi lydart
my princes are from the sixpenny handley and blandford forum areas.then george prince b. in 1758 took the family to lyndhurst, hants (wife lydia tidmans) he died in blandford. the family line goes through to henry born 1790 in lyndhurst moved them to wilton by salisbury in wiltshire from there to middlesex.
any of these match your princes?

My Princes were from More Crichel, Witchampton and the Gussages ... which are all only about 5 miles south of Sixpenny.   They stayed around there and points south for several generations, until about the 1850's; then they became Williams and moved to Hampshire  ... and that was the end of my Princes !

But I do have a case of a Moses Prince marrying an Elizabeth Prince in 1804 in M.Crichel ... but haven't been able to follow Moses line back, or see if they were in fact cousins ... its something I must have another go at one day !
