POLAND: Herman Grabowski

I have an ancestor Herman Grabowski, born we understand about 1823 in Russian Poland. In 1861 he married Ellen Andrews in Southwark, London, but does not appear in the 1851 Census return. He clearly arrived in England sometime between those two events. The problem we have is determining the exact year and the name fo the ship he arrived on. We cannot find Herman listed as an alien, nor can we find records of application for naturalisation. We have hit a brick wall. I have tried postings on farious Polish/Grabowski forums - no luck. any help or suggestions much appreciated

Not much help sorry but maybe he arrived after the census was taken as he is in the 1861 with Ellen and 1871 with Ellen and children.

There is a chance his name was spelt different. I did see a Henry Grabowsky on the 1851 who is a lodger b. abt 1820, Oldham, Polland no proffession is put down for him or the ones above him. In Cheadle, Staffordshire.
