Turton in Chilbolton

Hi,

I'm looking for any information on a family called Turton from Chilbolton.

The family - Joshua and Elizabeth (parents), John, James, Hannah, Edward, Selena, Thomas, Joshua, Mary and George (born between 1805 - 1821) moved up to the Hillingdon/Yiewsley area in Middlesex. Joshua was a shoemaker.

Does anyone have any information on Joshua Turton (born abt 1784) and Elizabeth ? (born abt 1780) who both claimed to have been born in Chilbolton?

Interesting findings.  I have found all the children that you mention, but not all of them with the same parents

Joshua Turton bapt 30 May 1784, Chilbolton son of Edward & Ann.

Two possibilities for Elizabeth:

Elizabeth Judd bapt 18 Apr 1774, Andover daughter of Benjamin & Hester
     
Elizabeth Judd bap 6 Jun 1784, Wherwell, daughter of  Richard & Mary

Nothing that I can see in 1780 that would fit.

I will check my notes against the children that I have - I think the eldest John has been included into my group in error.

Joshua and Elizabeth Turton are my husband's Greatx4 grandparents.

Hi Sally
if we are on the same family i have a Hannah Turton b1805 who married Henry Bedwell  Child at St Mary the Less Chilbolton 28 Dec 1830 and had 12 children. In 1845 Henry was Postmaster for Chilbolton. They are buried at  St Mary the Less Church, Chilbolton and the head stones can still be read.

just came across your message.

Joshua Turton b.1771 who was a master shoemaker was my 5th x Grt Grandfather but we have his marriage to Sarah Briant which we have tracked thru records.

There are quiet a few tree's that have got this sectin of the family muddled with another Joshua Turton born in 1784 but this Joshua's father Edward was a labourer....... Joshua Turton b. 1771 parents where Edward Turton And Sarah Hinxman

If your husband is also a descendant of Joshua Turton would love to hear from you as we havent found many living relatives on this line.

Hi Heather, thanks for your reply.

My husband is descended from Joshua Turton, born abt 1784 in Chilbolton, son of Edward Turton and Ann Young. This Joshua dies in 1874 in the Isle of Wight and his wife was Elizabeth Judd who he married in 1806.

I have no information on Edward Turton, other than he married in 1782 in Chilbolton and had 8 children that I've traced.
