Many thanks for that, I had wondered about the 'Forest' name previously but forgotten it.  So far with my Oxon family I've simply been working through the parish registers and haven't really looked at wills for this branch.  Lucy has been a bit of a brick wall for a long time so I've gone through the regs for other family branches and just forgotten about her.  I might just take a bit of time and go through the regs of Combe and Minster Lovell and see if I can match them.

My main aim in life at present is to find the point at which my parents are related. They say everybody is and I have found a twig of my mum's family (which also provides me with a Norman ancestry and beyond) zeroing in on the Hook Norton and Charlbury areas.  I think it would be great to tell them they are  actually cousins of sorts!

No Minster Lovell weddings until 1748.  At a glance there is nothing immediately obvious to connect them but it does give Gyles' wife name as Jeane via the burials.

Whilst I have not found much else as present, being sidetracked as usual, I did find a Gyles Harris in Witney St Mary: Witney 19 Apr 1598 Gyles s Nicolas chr

I have only been looking early 1500s to end 1700s in the above.

What is the significance of "in the church"?

There is also the following London marriage:-

24 MAY 1584      Saint Margaret, Westminster    RICHARD HARRIS m. ELIZABETH FOREST

It would be the right date to be Giles HARRIS of Combe's parents or grandparents. Might be worth checking out London FORREST/FOREST wills as well as Oxon ones..

Looks like you might have a martyr in the family! From wiki:-

"John Forest (1471-London, 22 May 1538) was an English Franciscan Friar and martyr.
Born in the Oxford area...."

That sounds really interesting, will look into it more at the end of the week.  Just bought another 2 OFHS CDs BIC01 & HED02 (I'll have the whole collection at this rate! And I'll be broke.) on my search for the elusive Nicylas/Nicholas Dormer who married in Cuddesdon.
There's an ongoing search on the internet to try and tie the Dormer's of Oxfordshire to those of Bucks.

What sort of date was your Nicholas DORMER around? I am looking at some families including the DORMERs at the moment who are distant in-laws of in-laws of in-laws of one another, so if I come acrosss a Nicholas I will let you know.
