Hi Julie,

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

I've not been able to find a marriage for this couple in Hampshire, certainly not in Kingsclere.  The catalogue entry for William's will (at Hampshire Record office in Winchester) does indicate that he was a cleric, although it doesn't specifically state that he was the incumbent of the parish.  However on the baptism record of his daughter Ann in 1762, it states he is the Reverend William Hudson.

I'm also a bit puzzled since I can't find a baptism in Kingsclere for him either.  :-\

According to John Lewis's Genealogical Website for Kingsclere, the burial entry records William HUDSON clerk schoolmaster 56 but the numerals are difficult to read.

There may be further information to be gleaned from HRO ref: 21M65/E13/1/65  - Laymen's Licence Papers for Schoolmasters and Lecturers - Nomination of William HUDSON curate of Kingsclere to Sir Jason Lancaster's Free School of Kingsclere, vice Mr Bolte, vicar deceased.  There appear to be two testimonials dated 1750 and 1752.  What luck!  ;D

Did you have any luck with rev William Hudson?  His daughter Mary b 17/3/1754 is my ancestor.
His wife Elizabeth was born 1725 and died 23/7/1771 (family search IGI index)
I have information on Mary, my ancestor and another daughter Martha b.10/6/1756.

I think that William Hudson of Kingsclere might have been curate of Tadley.
Tadley is just a few miles away from Kingsclere, and probably part of the same Parish.
A William Hudson is signing the Church marriage register from 1754 - 1771.
My William Hudson died in 1771, and after that date the register is signed by someone else.

I hope this is useful.

Hello Dee-Jay,

Hope your day goes well.

I clicked that LINK > "Hampshire Records Office searchable catalogue (records not available online)

(Link has now been updated 2016)

However, it returns a 404 page not found.

Let's see if I can find that page?

If you happen to find it before I do, could you please post it here online.

Thanks so much.

Hava top day there!
