Thomas Wade death born in Uppingham and died in 1819
« on: Saturday 22 January 11 02:42 GMT (UK) »
Wondering if a burial can be found for Thomas Wade who was born in Uppingham and died in 1819.   An inquest was held in Stamford but he's apparently not buried there.     I believe he was born in 1874 (not confirmed)   I'm also wanting to find his parents.
Thanks

If it is 1919, would he be Harriett Gisborn's son?

Thanks for replies.    It was 1819 and he was married to Catherine Harvey.    She later married Thomas Nutt.     Still hoping I can find information as I'm coming over to England in September and want to visit Uppingham.

Hello.... :)

I don't know if this is the correct Thomas but is the only burial I can see for 1819.

There was a report in Bury and Norwich Post (Bury Saint Edmunds), Wednesday, October 06, 1819.....which is regarding the inquest and mentions Thomas as keeper of a toll-gate near Uppingham....... so doesn't say he actually lived in Uppingham, unfortunately the report doesn't give his age.

Burial at WING, RUTLAND - THOMAS WADE aged 38 , abode AYSTON - 26-Sept 1819

There are a six Wade burials at Wing, Rutland but I will mention this one in case it helps any even if only to help rule them out -  it jumps out because her abode was Ayston Toll bar.

WING - RUTLAND- DIANA DOROTHY WADE, aged  69, abode AYSTON TOLL BAR, 26th April 1816

I have just realised that you said you are also looking for the parents of Thomas Wade.
If this Thomas is correct then apart from the two burials already mentioned there is also one for a David Wade, aged 53, abode Wing, Rutland - 22nd march 1827 (the other Wade burials at Wing are for children born between 1845 & 1848 and all under 18 days old)
One of the children; Sarah Elizabeth Wade was buried 23rd March 1845 aged 18 days and was christened at Wing 15th March 1845 - parents Thomas & Lavinia Wade.

There are two baptisms at Wing, Rutland which you can find here = https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1&countryId=1927033

THOMAS WADE - 30th January 1772 - parents Thomas & Diana Dorothy WADE
DAVID WADE  - 26th March 1775 - parents Thomas & Diana Dorothy WADE

I'll have to try and digest all your information ,  I'm very grateful for it.    I'm not sure if it will be my family or not.   Will follow up on it.  Thanks very much.    Lizzie  :)

Hi Lizzie... :)

http://maps.google.co.uk/  -  Uppingham is about 1 mile from Ayston and just over 3 miles from Wing.

Another bit of evidence which leads me to think it may be the Thomas you are seeking is that there were two baptisms at Ayston with parents Thomas & Catherine Wade;

Thomas Wade - 25th March 1817 - parents Thomas & Catherine Wade
Sarah Anne Wade - 6th June 1819 - parents Thomas & Catherine Wade

The transcript for the two baptisms gives the place of residence at the time as Yelvertoft, Northamptonshire.....maybe came "home" for their children's christenings? but would be a good idea to check the parish register to confirm the details and see if there is anything else that might help.

Although Thomas Wade married Catherine Harvey in Uppingham , more often than not they married in the brides parish and then went to live in the grooms parish......generally because that was where his work was.

Lots to consider.......hope I have not confused you too much..... :D
