Hi Sancti,

Wonder if you can help me out, Lodger tells me there is a headstone in the old church yard to James Alston 1818, can you tell me do you have a photo of it please?

I would be very grateful as we live in Sussex, England.

Many thanks

Helen

Sorry but I didn't come across a headstone with that name.

Many are totally eroded and many are lying flat covered with moss and dirt

Hi, I am looking for James Mckinlay died 15 Aug 1871. He lived at Larkhall Lanarkshire before he died.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Regards
Heather

He wouldn't have been buried in Hamilton parish churchyard, it was closed long before 1871. He is probably in Larkhall cemetery, if you contact the cemeteries office of South Lanarkshire Council (just google the address) they should help you.
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

Sancti, have you seen any tombstones with the name Rice? I have been trying to trace my ancestor Francis Rice who died in Hamilton in 1855. The death record says he was buried in the parish churchyard. I wondered if you have come across him? He might be near the Burns you posted as his mother was Margaret Burns. Just thought I would ask!

Many of the headstones in the churchyard are very eroded or moss covered so there may be a headstone for him but I only took pictures of stones that were reasonably legible at the time

Sancti, thank you for responding so quickly. If you are familiar with this parish can you tell me how I might find more about parish members living in the first half of the 19th century?  I have taken the records available on line (Scottish OPRs, newspaper archives etc) as far as I can. I live in Nova Scotia so if anyone would like be to check on anything for them just email! Thanks Ellen
