Hello

Do you have son Evan Bowen on any census??

Why have you posted on Cardigan board and yet Evan was b Carmarthen??

Did they live in Cardigan??

if we can trace Evan back on the census we may find Thomas .

Was Thomas a beer seller??

There's a Little Darkgate Street in Aberystwyth

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CGN/Aberystwyth/Pigot1844.html

1841 census shows a possible in the right street, but different occupation, so perhaps the beer wasa sideline

Little dark gate St, Aberystwyth HO107/1372/1 folio 8 pg 9
Edward Guest 25 stone mason
Margaret Guest 20
Thomas Bowen 40 carrier
Sarah 45
Thomas 20 joiner
Ruth 15
Ann 10
Elizabeth 5
Sarah 2
all except Edward Guest born in county

IGI batch C090071 for Aberystwyth has baptisms for all of the children and a John bp 1818. Thomas was baptised 10/11/1822 son of Thomas & Sarah.

There's an Evan Bowen born about 1835 in Llanybyther, Carms who may be the the Evan in Shropshire in 1871 & 1881

1841 Felinganol, Llanybyther HO107/1380/22 folio 11 pg 14
Thomas Bowen 35 farmer
Dinah 25
Esther 11
John 8
Evan 6
Rachel 4
Susannah 5 months
all born in county

do you have his marriage cert to find out father's name & occupation?

marriage reg sept qtr 1870 Newport Shropshire vol 6a pg 1245

1871 census he gives his place of birth as Llanybyther, but there's more one Evan Bowen in Llanybyther with a father Thomas in 1841.
