Thanks for pointing me to the newspaper report - I have been concentrating on the family notices to get births, deaths and marriages correct, but don't always see the other material. It seems that Elizabeth won her case!

(And yet in 1861 the pub is owned by George: more digging required, I think.)

Since Francis was transported in 1835, George could indeed be the 32-year-old who drowns in 1863.

I have found the record for William's arrival with wife and child in Hobart on Mountaineer from Liverpool via Sydney, 8 Oct 1832. It's on microfiche and Roots does't like the pdf I tried to attach.
