   Would it be possible to find the birth and death of jabez batty of barnsley.
  Ithink he was born about 1856.I do not know who his parents are only that

he married Elizabeth Potter.

Have you looked at www.freebmd.org.uk ?    That is the site we all use to look for BMDs   His marriage is there and getting that certificate will show his father's name.   There is a possible birth too.
What children did he and Elizabeth have?   Finding them in census records may enable us to trace him back to when he was with his own parents.  It is quite an unusual name.

Look at freebmd there is a ref for a  jabez batty in march quarter 1856 barnsley , there is a ref so you can order a cert and there's also a ref for another in barnsley in 1883. Also a death.

There is this burial in Barnsley Cemetery
Jabez Batty, age 79, Fairground Thursland/Midland Street, Buried 11 June 1934, Section E Plot 389.
Same grave
Elizabeth Batty, age 78,37 Copper Street, Buried 10 March 1938.

There are other burials as well in the same grave E - 389
Fanny Batty,age 11 weeks,Duke Street,Buried 6 February 1901.
George Batty,age 2 month,In a caravan John Street,Buried 4 June 1903.
Grace Batty,age 17years,Royal Infirmary Sheffield,Buried 6 April 1914.

George Batty, age 5 days,In a caravan on John Street,Buried 7 January 1902,Section Y Plot 312.

Your welcome, I can only see the family in the 1901 census I should be able to pick them up in 1891 but I can't see them.Your Gran did she marry a McQuillan and was she also known as Catherine ??

My gran was amelia stather(nee batty)she married a george stather who died quite young.I have tried before to find amelias dads death(jabez) but i could never find it,also the other people in the graves,its nice to know as well.
