My cousin went to the Townhall for her Mums birth certificate and they couldn't find that either so she had to send off for it.
I'll be back with the 1861 census.

Just asked my cousin and she says the only way the Townhall will find the marriage is if you know the exact date and church.

Possible 1861 census mistranscibed as Sabgar ? but the father is George and there is a sister called Elizabeth so that matches the 1871 census.

did not know the church so i guessed and put down st johns in town but it must not have been right.will send off in the morning for the marriage certificate.they have altered it up there now,if you want it there and then it cost 20 pounds or else you have to wait 3 days which cost 9 pounds.this does sound like the family on 1861 census,but like you said i will send for the certificate.

Thats a lot of money £20,I've been trying to find a marriage between George Batty and Amelia but not having any luck so far.

Lodging with a Taylor family @ Westgate
I'm saving the census so when we can confirm its the right family I'll send them to you.

Can't see James with the family in 1861 but can see a possible death in 1854.
