The George A. E. SMITH birth - parents Thomas and Mary SMITH - registered at Dubbo - 1870.

Yes, this death (1937) could be for same person ... there's only two years difference.   ;)  (1937 aged 65 = bc 1872).

[May be wise though to check births in  VIC - c. 1872 to see if there is another of same name. ]

Do you think it is the same one?

Leanne

Hello Leanne...

I think she is Mary Booth STEVEN b.1869 in Sebastopol, Victoria. Her parents are Francis and Catherine m.s ALEXANDER. She married Thos Jno SMITH in 1894 and they had John in 1895, Hy (Harry?) in 1896 and Lilian in 1898 (names mentioned in the death notice). The father is listed as Jno Thos SMITH in the Victoria BDM births index.

I'm reeeally hesitant to say but I think it's a coincidence that the mother is named Mary Booth and that the father is named Thomas.

More than happy to be proven wrong :-)

Now I am a bit confused { doesn't take much sometimes lol } just found this in Victoria  ???
Mary Booth STEVEN  { b Ballarat} married John Thomas SMITH { b Blackwood} 1894 # 239
And the following children:
1. John Stanley b 1895 Hotham West # 13129 d 1895 aged 1 Month  Hothan West # 5845
2. Henry Knight b 1896 Hotham West # 28646
3. Lillian Mary b 1898 Hotham West # 19558
4. Teresa Gerte b 1902 Hotham West # 27049
5. Fran Mich b 1907 Hotham West # 11479
6. Leo Patrick b 1911 Hotham West # 20892

So can we assume that this is another couple entirely with very similar names ?

Hi Alison

Had just been going to suggest a look-up on OZ board for further info on George Albert Edward SMITH etc. to see if parents names might be on indexes.

So that's great info  ... you've come up trumps !   :)

[And yes, Mary Booth STEVEN / John Thomas SMITH - another couple with similar names.   Ah, the joys of searching for SMITHs. ]    :D

Hello Alison...

I'm confused too :-) but I think you've made it clear that none of the deceased in the Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery are related to the the original poster. Red herring for dinner tonight.

Can I ask where you got the info in your post(s) from.

And can you do the same for Mary SMITH, 1896 death recorded in Dubbo, NSW ref# 1710/1896.

Please :-)

Many thanks
Beg

Hang on....no I'm not.  The death notice (post #16) links Alison's post #21 to Alison's post #23 which backs up my post #20....I think.

Not sure what the Fawkner Cemetery has to do with it though. I thought it was the Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery....so still mildly confused I guess.
