not sure that I have sufficient magic powers to manage that!    ::)

Is this the family in 1861?

8 Main Road, Aberystruth, Mon  RG9/3997 folio 50 pg 5
Jane Thomas widow 42 housekeeper b. Cardigan Town
John son 18 iron worker b. Aberystruth
Mary dau 20 forge labourer b. Aberystruth
Ann dau 14 b. Aberystruth

In which case, Thomas is not Jane's maiden name.

This looks like the same family in 1851

Garnvach, Aberystruth HO107/2447 folio 541 pg 12
Ann  A Jones head widow 70 hosekeeper b. Cardiganshrie
Jane Thomas dau widow 32 b. Cardiganshire deaf
Mary Thomas grand dau 10 b. Nantyglo
John grandson 9 b. Nantyglo
Jane granddau 6 b. Nantyglo
Anne granddau 3 b. Nantyglo

This may be the family in 1841
Garnvach, Nantyglo Ironworks HO107/742/5 folio 26 pg 46
Isaac Thomas 25 collier
Jane 25
Mary 1
all born in county ( ? Jane should show as not born in county? )

possible marriage
Jane Jones sept qtr 1839 Abergavenny vol 26 pg 3 with Isaac Thomas on the same page

Marriage cert should show father's details which may help you find Jane's baptism amongst the rest of the Jane Jones  b. Cardigan.
Cornwall: Allen, Bevan, Bosisto, Carnpezzack, Donithorn, Huddy, James, Retallack, Russell, Vincent, Yeoman
Cards: Thomas (Llanbadarn Fawr)

Lincs: Coupland, Cram
Mon: Cram, Gwyn, John, Philpot, Smart, Watkins
Pembs: Edwards (St. Dogmael's)
Yorks: Airey, Bowler, Elliott, Hare, Hewitt, Kellett, Kemp, Stephenson, Tebb

Hello osprey,  your a star, yes a marriage cert would help to find Janes bap, the census look alright to me same familys.  I do appreciate your kind help. Thank you very much.  Going off the 1851 census Jane Thomas a widow daur of Ann Jones so Jane must be Jane Jones before marriage, am i right.  Regards Gladys. :)

yes, that's why I gave you the 1839 marriage for Jane Jones & Isaac Thomas.

The 1861 census gives you the town of Cardigan as Jane's place of birth

Hello osprey, i wrote a letter to the registrar asking if they had the marriage of Jane Jones & Isaac Thomas with details and received a letter back saying- We have traced an entry Ref No c10/1, entry 7          which corresponds to the names given in your application.  However, the following details do not meet the search criteria specified.
* Listed as Jane Thomas & Isaac thomas - no trace of Jones
*Other reason  There is one for Jones but she married a Griffiths (c41/1, 67 )  so i don`t know what to do now.  Have you any ideas.         Regards Gladys.

do you have a birth certificate for one of the children to confirm Jane's maiden name?

I was using the transcription of the GRO index on FreeBmd looking for an Isaac Thomas marrying a Jane. It could be that her surname has been mistranscribed. As long as the Isaac Thomas on the cert is a collier, marrying a Jane in or around Nantyglo, it should be ok.
