Re my previous post I just came across this website having a sad moment thinking about my dad. He was a very kind person after everything he had been through, just lovely man who I will never forget. I remember him say all the tall larger men died in the stalag camp due to lack of food. My dad was small 5’5. He said they grew spuds in their own waste to survive. I remember him say also he was ordered to dig snow off the railway track and took a rest and the German came over and hit him with the butt of the rifle in the side of head and dad replied to the German “go on shoot me”.
