Looking for Lucy
« on: Tuesday 26 April 11 12:21 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about Lucy who was the wife of John Hickman, my 4x great uncle.

John was born about 1808 in Cottesmore, Rutland.  He and Lucy had three children between c1839 and c1850 so I think the marriage took place before registration.

I can only find Lucy and John in 1851 and 1871.

Lucy was born about 1819 in Middlesex, London.

Sorry I can give anymore information ???

Thanks.

Hello,

This looks like her in 1841  HO107; Piece 687; Book: 8;Folio: 13; Page: 19

34 Orford Street Chelsea  (think it is Orford)
Benjamin Howard 35 yrs M Servant not born in county
John Hickman 60 yrs Independent not born in county
Lucy Hickman 23 yrs born in county
Elizabeth Hickman 2 yrs  -do-

This may be John as the age was written then a line drawn over it - there could be a '3' under a forward stroke which has been interpreted as '60'

That's great Rosie!

I was just going to post that I couldn't see a marriage but there is a baptism for Elizabeth as St Luke's Chelsea.
Family Search has a baptism and burial for a John Thomas Hickman at St Luke's 1837/1838.

The children were;

Elizabeth (c1839)
John Richard (c1843)
Richard Thomas (c1850).

All the children were born in Middlesex according to the census.
