Thankyou very much, George. No, being new to Welsh genealogy, I hadn't appreciated that the surname might appear differently. Very useful to know - thankyou. I'll take a look at the info you've set out. All much appreciated!

Graham,

Whoever made the transcription of the Registers also added some notes, and these are included. All surnames are PROTHEROE unless stated otherwise.

1812  14 May  Mary              ditto

1840   28 Sep    Elizabeth     of Alltwen (burial or death)

1840   19 Dec   Margaret d of William & Mary of Tymawr (Margaret m Rees JONES and died Jun 1876)

1854    31 Jan  Catherine           ditto                                 ( she m James PRITCHARD)

1854    27 Dec  Alma  d of Roderick & Sarah   (she m Alfred MORGAN oct 1880)

I hope that some of the above is useful.

I have just joined RootsChat so forgive me if I’m not replying in the usual format- finding my way round the system!  Regarding Roderick and Margaret (aka Mary), I have also have names of their other children - Sybil 1794-1826, Catherine 1796-1869, Elizabeth 1798-1872, John 1806-1857.

My connection is through Alma, she is my great grandfather’s sister. So Rees Protheroe 1731-1840 of Tymawr farm (Roderick’s father) was my 5x gf.

Hi there,
I have recently arrived in Abergwesin with my family research.  The family I am researching is the family of William Evans and Catherine Jones.  My link is through their son John Evans who was born in the area between 1837 and 1841.  I have found birth records for his brother Thomas (15 April 1841), and sister Mary (17 April 1844) where the birth place is written as Garrgyfrân or Garregyfrân, Llandewi-Abergwesin.  I can find Abergwesin, but the first place (probably a farm) I cannot find.

I would love to know where this place is - find it on a map - see a photo.  Can anyone help?
