I have just discovered this correspondence. I have been looking for burial details for SAM COOPER, 8 Morgan Street, Blaina who died on 10 Jan 1917 after service with Royal Field Artillery. Any info re his place of burial would be hugely welcome. Trevalyn.

What a great result - I've been searching for this man for some considerable time. Can you confirm that the burial records are held by Blaenau Gwent Baptist Chapel? Also, if you have easy access to the records, could I ask you to check for GEORGE BRAIN, 9 Newadd St, Abertillery who died on 22 Dec 1919. Both these men were war casualties. I am most grateful for your help.

I don’t know where the original records are held. The records that I have been transcribed by The Gwent Family History Society. They are available for purchase in booklet and on CD from them for a small fee. You can easily find them on line.

Many thanks for your help: I can follow up both men via the Chapel. Just one query - you refer to
"George James", 9 Neuadd St whereas I have him as "George Brain". Does the name Brain appear anywhere in your version of the records?
