I'm looking for suggestions is anyone has any. I've got one credit left to use before the end of the day on Ancestry. I've managed to get the census return that Grub mentioned which I am happy about because it looks spot on despite the age. I've manage to squander three of the credits on my bad hunches >:( ;D I'm hoping do something good with my last credit before it expires.

I've exhausted Ellis Island and Ancestry for passenger lists between 1880-1886 with no luck. My last stab really is at the 1900 census. I've been trying to find there without any luck, any suggestions would be welcomed. I'm pretty sure that he must be in Brooklyn, Kings, New York and possibly with his wife Mary. To recap, this seems to be the same person:

1920 US Census- Brooklyn, Kings, New York
John Marr, 63y, Scottish, Brass Moulder, immigrated in 1886

1910 US Census- Brooklyn, Kings, New York
John R Marr, 48y, Scottish, Brass Moulder, immigrated in 1885
Mary Marr, 40y, New Jersey, Sales Lady.

1888-1890 Brooklyn Telephone Directories
John R. Marr, Moulder, 54 Cumberland
John Marr, Moulder, 62 Withers
John R. Marr, Brass Moulder, 85 De Kalb

1871 England Census- Kirkdale, West Derby
John Marr, 14y, Scottish, Brass Founder His family moved there in 1869, all family members are present.

1856 Birth Certificate- Lanark, Scotland
John Russell Marr born on 21st August, 1856.

Looking for Hugh Marr and Mary Drummond.

Thanks for that Annie. That really does put the cat among the pigeons ;D It could be he stopped off there, if it's the same person, before going to New York later on. Either way thanks for posting the information.
