HMS DAMITO was launched as OLIVER PICKIN in May 1917 at Smiths Dock Southbank on Tees. Castle Class Trawler. http://www.gwpda.org/naval/atrawler/cstl1.htm
In 1922 she was sold to W J Allen of Grimsby and W Lambert of Cleethorpes and renamed FERMO later sold to T Jenkinson Of Milford Haven and renamed DAMITO

As already stated, there is little chance of the original citation surviving.
This reference from Kew may hold some clues.

Her  WW2 movements should be in this reference

If not they may be in the RED LISTS in ADM 208

Hi Seaweed

I have discovered by trawling the net that the Damito was based at Portland near Weymouth during 1941 and that in July Portland harbour was attacked by a Sdn of German Aircraft. The Damito was hit with 2 persons being killed. This may have been for an action that he did that day.
I have also been able from the web to get a picture of her.

Thank you for your advice and I will follow this up.

Many thanks
Schooner  :)

Schooner, I hope you are still open to this thread. My Dad was a coxswain on the Damito. He spoke very little of his wartime service but I do have a few photos that may be of interest to you.
Regards, Phil.
