Hi,
I am trying to find out what happened to Rose Magdalen Dawber.
She was born Rose Magdalen Mazzie in 1899 in Swindon, Wiltshire, but was brought up in Bristol.
She married in Bristol in 1917 to Jack (John) Sharpe.
Marriages Dec 1917
Mazzie Rose M Sharpe Bristol 6a 412
Sharpe Jack Massie Bristol 6a 412
They had 1 son:-
Births Mar 1919
Sharpe Frederick W (Mazzie) Bristol 6a 50
I don't know what happened to Frederick.
Her husband Jack then died in Bristol in 1919, and has a Commonwealth War Grave, so must have died as a result of the War.
Deaths Mar 1919
Sharpe John 32 Bristol 6a 80
In Memory of
Gunner J SHARPE
30022, Royal Garrison Artillery
transf. to (533051) , Labour Corps
who died age 31
on 17 February 1919
Son of the late Alfred William Sharpe; husband of Rose Dawber (formerly Sharpe), of 25, Tancred's Close, St. Michael's, Bristol.
Remembered with honour
BRISTOL (ARNOS VALE) CEMETERY
Rose then had another son in 1921, which is listed as Sharpe on his birth record, but was born too long after Jack's death to be his:-
Births Sep 1921
Sharpe George Mazzie Bristol 6a 103
However, on his death record he is listed as Dawber:-
Deaths Dec 1922
Dawber George 1 Bristol 6a 25
Rose had married secondly, George T W Dawber:-
Marriages Mar 1922
DAWBER George T W Sharpe Bristol 6a 216
SHARPE Rose M Dawber Bristol 6a 216
Rose and George then had a son:-
Births Mar 1923
Dawber Alfred R Mazzie Bristol 6a 385
and a daughter who died young:-
Births Sep 1925
Dawber Doris G R Mazzie Bristol 6a 386
Deaths Dec 1925
Dawber Doris G R 0 Bristol 6a 34
Alfred R Dawber married in Surrey in 1956.
I can't find any children of his.
He died in 1983 in Surrey.
George T W Dawber, Roses husband died in Wigan, Lancashire in 1953.
I can't find any record of Rose either in the death records or marriage records (assuming she may have divorced George and re-married).
I have looked at a few possibilities of deaths of Rose Dawber's (and variant spellings) but every time I find a death in a particular district, I also find the birth and marriage of the Rose Dawber that the person must have been.
I have also looked at emigration, but can't find anybody to match.
Can anybody help?
Thanks,
Darin.
