Hoyle, West Yorkshire
« on: Wednesday 15 June 11 13:26 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have searched extensively for a death entry for my errant grandfather William Herbert Hoyle (known as Herbert), who was born in Greetland, West Yorks, in 1887, but cannot pin one on him with any certainty.  I know that he lived much of his life in the Brighouse area, had been married to Bertha Saville (d 1938) and had a son to her named Eric Archie.   I know nothing about what happened to him after Bertha's death.

I am wondering if anyone out there has Herbert in their family tree, and knows when and where he died.

A bit of a long shot I know, but I thought I would try,

Christine

Thank you KGarrad.  I have a long list of possible death entries, including one in Huddersfield for a Herbert Hoyle, d 1957, age 70.  This may be the one, as Huddersfield is near to the area where he lived, but...

Any of your suggestions could be the one - I might have to spend a lot of money!

Ju st wondered if anyone had any concrete info.

Thanks again,

Christine

Was Bertha a Widow on her Death Cert?
I would narrow down the time frame if she was or not.

Trish :)

Bertha was not a widow Trish - her funeral was attended by Herbert.  She died aged 48 in Brighouse

Hi

If Herbert left a Will/ Probate- Then that may help find some info

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thank you dobfarm

This looks fairly likely, except that Herbert would have been 57, having been born June qtr 1887.  I will check microfilm of the local paper for a death notice though.

There is a story that Herbert was killed in a railway accident, though we don't know if that was true, or a story concocted to throw interested parties off the scent!

Thank you for your help,

Christine
