McGurk or McKeogh
« on: Thursday 16 June 11 14:49 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on a Catherine McGurk or McKeogh of Louth
1871 Census of Consett, Co. Durham, England, shows her age 50 (Born circa 1821)
Place of birth is shown as Ireland Louth

She married Owen Shevelan about 1841-3 ish  They lived for a while and had family in Monaghan before leaving for Consett between 1846 and 1850.

Catherine's s birth was well before the start of Full Civil records in Ireland (1864), so you would need to check what parish records might be available for the area her family lived. To do this you would need to know the family religion and where in Co. Louth they lived - i.e. parish or townland.

Your post on the Monaghan board says "Felix Shevelan (or Shovelan) who married a Catherine McKeogh (or McGurk) born in Louth. "

I've already posted links to the same help topics on that thread.

I was getting GG-grandfather names mixed up.  When I fired up BK6 I found the right names.  Sorry for any confusion.

Felix was Quinn on my mothers side.

From information in other posts it would seem that she could be from Killanny or an adjacent parish.  In the Census for Consett she is listed as being born in Louth.
