Hi

Are you looking for details of their parents/siblings?

Does the cwgc website give any info on their parents/spouses?  (eg) the memorial for Arthur Barlow shows him as Son of Robert Thomas and Esther Barlow, of 73A, High St., Little Lever, Bolton.

Have you checked the 1911 census for info?  It's strictly pay per view and we are not allowed to do any lookups as it is copyright protected

Have you looked for local newspaper write-ups?  As you have their dates of death, searching should be straightforward.  Bolton Library may have the back numbers, and there may be photographs.  Are any church/parish magazines in the reference library?  They often had a piece about their flock.

Thanks for your top tips !!

So far I have done the CWGC and local papers.......I have done the church (not much there!!).....Not totally interested in the family/siblings slant.

More interested in the whole military side of life......Enlistment dates/places etc......Where they may have fought and died...........etc.....

I am well aware that there isn't always a great deal of info about the ordinary Tommy in War Diaries but I am keeping my fingers x'd for more info.

The Bolton evening news or the Bolton Chronicle are available on micro film at the family history centre at the Bolton museum. They give dates of everyone who signed up and who was injured and all those who died.

The best paper is the Bolton chronicle, it was only printed every two weeks and it gives the same info as the Bolton evening news. I think my Grandfather was in the same regiment as a lot of the Little Lever lads. Loyal lancashire?
