I will have a look at the papers you have suggested, but I am not sure the names got that far as the Farnworth Journal picked most if not all the deaths.

All three papers were from the same stable. Good luck anyway.
Pete.

Interesting......so do you think there could be more info to be had?

I got the copies of the Farnworth cuttings from the nice ladies at the Little Lever library but not all the 'my Loyals' were there, hopefully the Bolton papers may have the missing ones?

Re William Boardman d 29 Jan 1918.
Can't help with William but my ancestor who was also in the &th Btn died along with 6 other men on 22 Jan 1918.

Details from the War Diary state the Regiment were at the rear of the lines and on the 22nd they were hit by 2 stray German shells.

One hit the gun pit which killed 6 men and the other man died when two men were clearing a trench and one of them hit a 'dud' shell killing him and injuring the other man.

Not sure how long the Btn were away from the front line as I am finding info regarding the 7th is quite sparse.

Jean,

I found this on  The Great War Forum.............note the dates!

http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=162374&st=0&p=1576492&hl=loyals&fromsearch=1&#entry1576492

I will have a poke about later in some of my material and try to answer the question you posed about the 7th being out of the line.

Hi

More interested in the whole military side of life......Enlistment dates/places etc......Where they may have fought and died...........etc.....

If your local library is one of the ones with free Ancestry access - you could check if any of their WW1 service records have survived.    As you probably know - over 60% of WW1 records were destroyed in the WW2 blitz but you never know - you may get a few that have survived

I know my great grandfather is honoured on the library memorial in Little Lever (though he isn't one of the names you're asking about. I suggest you try the Farnworth Journal too for further info.
