Just to add to the info on the Stokesley marriage John Robson & Elizabeth Cook - neither could sign, both made a mark.  Both witnesses however did add their signature.

Hi All.
I am a Robson, the George robson were all discussing here is my husbands paternal line- i married into the name and i am the one who does the ancestry.... Anyhow... George Robson from 1775 is my husbands grandfather times 4. They moved from Yorkshire to Nottinghmashire to Manchester over 20 years and many still remain in the city of Manchester, hence us.
