The National Archives Meet August 2011
« on: Tuesday 28 June 11 13:51 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys,

I am planning a Rootschat meet at The National Archives this August for Saturday August 6th for anyone who wants to come and meet up with a few like-minded individuals and get some research done at The National Archives.

If August 6th is not a good day for many, a suggestion has been made for a 'reserve' date of Saturday August 20th, depending on which date is most popular.

Please PM me with your email address if you would like to attend and I will send around an e-mail when all the details have been confirmed.

Can this post be 'stickied' please?

Thanks
Matt94 :)

EDIT: DUE TO PRIOR COMMITMENTS OF MANY ROOTSCHATTERS AND SMALL NUMBERS, A FURTHER ALTERNATIVE IS BEING PLANNED IN OCTOBER WHEN MORE MEMBERS CAN MAKE IT. THE DATE SUGGESTED IS TUESDAY, 25TH OCTOBER 2011, WHICH IS DURING THE HALF TERM WEEK.

Hi Matt

Interested but midweek not good for those who are working and/or those who aren't but have childcare commitments especially during school holidays. Can consideration be given to moving it to a weekend if poss?

Thanks

Hi Matt

Small question - why do we need to PM with email address?. Usually details of meets posted on boards so that all who might want to come are aware of what's going on?

Matt,

I would love to come to a meet at Kew. I have some Boer War records to chase up. You already have my e-mail I think?

With regards to the date of the meet, I am honestly not fussed. As long as it is not late November because I am busy then with my graduation!

Nevertheless, put me down please, plus one. It'll be nice to get our clique together again.

Matt :)

Matt

Meet sounds good but sorry I don't give out my email address as previously notified to people I don't know - especially since it would appear that the intent is to notify us all by some sort of group email. Not sure why details cannot be posted on this board for all site members who may be interested to view as they are for all other meets.

Thanks

If you don't wish to pass along your email address then perhaps Matt can send you a PM instead  :)

Hi aghadowey

Many thanks. I think tho we maybe need a Mod line to to take on this issue in general.

Meets are usually organised on boards and details posted there so everyone is aware of the when, where etc and indeed doing so usually attracts additional people. As these previously meet arrangements have been done via the boards (with the possible exception of a PM with mobile nos - vital on the day!) I think would be helpful now given there have been quite a few if maybe some high level checklist or something similar could be published by RC as a guide?!

Just a thought!

Ann :)

PS My request to withhold my email should NOT preclude me from attending any meet or any others who may similarly not wish to share email to those unknown. I do note the originator of this post has not seen fit as yet to reply.

More information on the meet will be posted in due course when more information is known about arrangements. What I can say for sure is that the meet will not be held in August, and October seems a likely time for the meet.
