looking for my birth place
« on: Sunday 24 July 11 21:01 BST (UK) »
Hi I have just recently joined so I am hoping I am doing this right. I found out this weekend for the first time where I was born, and I would like to find out more about the area etc. I was born in Orme Street in Beswick Manchester. My paternal granparents who I never met were George and Elizabeth Bradley at no 74 and my mum and dad lived with my grandparents until I was 2. I would be grateful if anyone knows any information about Orme Street in the 1950's

Hi,

Welcome to rootschat.  There are a few photographs of Orme Street on the following site:

http://images.manchester.gov.uk/index.php?session=pass

Just type in Orme Street Beswick into the search.

Regards,
Mo

Thankyou for you quick response, you have given me the first insight to where I am from. You have also given me the info I need to start tracing my family

I am very grateful :)

Hi,
I lived close to Orme st and knew it well.
All the terrace houses have gone now and replaced by new council houses. Where Orme st was is now called Orme Close I think. I knew Orme st from about 1976.
