Joseph Darby Marriage 22/05/1846 Belfast
« on: Sunday 31 July 11 16:48 BST (UK) »
My query is regarding  a Marriage record I have from Co Antrim . It state Joseph Darby married Anne Quin @St Patrick's Belfast RC, Shankill Co Antrim.  I am looking for a marriage for Joseph Darby around that date, however the wifes name was Anne Gunn. Whilst going though my research the name Gunn has been transcribed as Quin several times, and Quin transcribed as Gunn. Is it possible for the original to be seen I only have a transcribed copy.
Advice or help would be appreciated
Thank you
Ann

Registration of Catholic marriages, as this seems to be, began in 1864 so the only place to see the actual entry would be in the church records (or a microfilmed copy).

Have you checked to see if PRONI has microfilmed the record?

Ann,
The Ulster Historical Foundation site lists the marriage as Joseph Darby and Anne Quin in 1847. This will be a transcribed copy and unfortunately the fathers' names are not given.

Why? The UHF record is a transcription and you really need to check the original record (if it exists) See www.proni.gov.uk to see if they hold microfilmed copies of the original record. If you can't get to Belfast you could try your local LDS library can order it for you to view there. See: https://www.familysearch.org/#form=catalog.
