Gunsite Farm Holbury
« on: Thursday 11 August 11 20:40 BST (UK) »
Hello, I have a death certificate that has an address on it that doesn't come up in a google search.  It's looks like 67 Gunsite Farm, Holbury.  The registration date on the  certificate is dated January 1967.   Can anyone help me locate this address please?  Thanks.   :)

Can you scan and post the part of the death cert which just has the address on - please do not post the whole cert

If the address is unclear - it may be best to get some opinions on the translation

Hello Carol, Yes that's probably the best idea but I think I'll try it tomorrow as my scanner needs a lot of encouragement to co-operate with my computer....which will take some time to sort out.
Thanks for the suggestion.   :)

There definitely was a Gunsite Farm at Holbury at that time. I believe it was down somewhere near the Old Holbury Mill at Limekiln Lane. Hampshire County Council should have some old maps of the area. They may even be online.

Just remembered, it was a caravan site at the end of Lime Kiln Lane. Don't know where it got the name from, but I guess there must be a bit of history to it.

Gunsite farm was indeed a caravan site at the end of Lime Kiln Lane.  There were 3 caravan sites there, with Gunsite farm being the most northerly.  It is now a housing estate called The Mill  Pond.  It was called Gunsite Farm as that was what it was before the caravan site.  Just to the west of the caravan park was  a very large Anti Aircraft gunsite - it was a massive concrete and iron structure covering several acres. Sadly destroyed now by the quarrying of gravel in the 80s.
