Is there an online resource for Guernsey similar to 1837 online for England and Wales?  If not, do they hold the birth/death/marriage info at the records office in London or do you have to go to Guernsey?

Thanks for any help/advice

1837online records will include the Channel Islands census (eventually) - but does not include the civil registrations of births, deaths & marriages.

Births, Deaths - since 1840, and Marriages since 1919 - are held at the States of Guernsey Greffe (Record Office). They do not accept postal research requests. Copies are held by the Priaulx Library in Guernsey - who will do research for a fee. Microfilm copies of the civil registers (but not the indexes I believe) are also held by the Society of Genealogists in London, and can be requested via your local LDS Family History Center.

Before that you are looking at parish registers, which are only available in the Priaulx Library (www.gov.gg/priaulx).
