Hi Margaret

Is this the Joseph LONG 54 , b Claxton, who is in Norwich in 1861 with wife Hannah 44  and 4 children aged between 7yrs  & 6mths - also a nephew in the house named Edward Chamberlain age 23?  Then in 1871, he's a widower boarder age 67, with 2 of his sons.

Just checking  - before I try finding this man in 1851, if that's the right one.

Because if it's  him -  it looks as if they were not married until 1854.

Cheers

Gleaned from your earlier posting - it seems the family above could be the right one - and 1851 is a bit of a curiosity - his name is wrong either by design or accident, or enumerator error.......

Hi Margaret

Our posts must have crossed - I think that's him in 1851 (above)  - listed as Robert, with Hannah as his housekeeper, not yet wed.

Cheers

Baptism;
JOSEPH Long, 07 August 1803, St Mary the Virgin, Yelverton, Norfolk
Birth, 31 July 1803
Parents JOSEPH Long and RUTH nee THURLOW
Notes, Privately
(2 other Children JOHN 1804 and ANN 1809 at Claxton)

Another Record has the Baptism 07 April 1803 and the Birth Date the same as other Record 31 July 1803

So Mother RUTH may be Witness to 1830 Marriage to Elizabeth Cory (or a Sister maybe)

EDIT Marriage of Joseph/Ruth was 1802, Yelverton and he was a Widower!
