 if thier are any decendants still living with any information on these scarrott  familly members could you please get in touch. esther ellen scarrott born june 1863 penzance cornwall married alfred stanmore 1889.   hannah maria scarrott born june 1865 west bromwich christened 15 june 1894 age 30 in burford married thomas keylock 1893. reuben scarrott born sept 1868 cirencester died 1871 aged 2 buried 10 feb 1871 burford.oxon .  sarah miranda scarrott born 13 may 1872 burford married edward chaunce 1900. selina scarrott born 13 june 1875 burford married abraham bond 1895 brighton,. mary ann scarrott born 21 sept 1877 burford. the parents of these children were reuben scarrott born 1842 finstock oxon  wife susannah rowles born 1842 witney oxon. reuben scarrott died sometime beetween 1872 and 1877. but i cannot find any record of his death or burail can any body shed any light on these people

Further info for Reuben on this states he was a china-man, son of Jas Scarrott china-man.
Susanna is stated as dau of Jas Rowles sweep

Susanna Rowles background from Witney St Mary Regs (OFHS):
Bapt 1843 Apr 9 Susanna dau James & Susanna sweep

I could find no other children for James & Susanna or a marriage in the Witney regs but there is a burial for a James Rowles 1844 19 Nov age 27 which might be your James.

Hope this helps a bit, I think your family tend to move about a bit!

The one big puzzle is the death of Reuben Scarrott which cannot be founsd anywhere.  Susannah re-married to Elias Smith in 1879

I have continued looking through my OFHS CDs for the burial of your elusive Reuben and found

1902 May 7 Scarrott Reuben 66 found dead in Hook Norton Parish (no comment about how he died or where he came from).  This would put him roughly at the same birth as the Reuben b 1842 give or take a year (which sometimes happens when they quote an age on death).  There is no birth entry for Reuben in these regs or in any of the others for this period apart from the one I found previously.  Could it be that he didn't die when people thought and Susanna remarried bigamously?!!

For your info the cds I have are WIT01-04, WOD01-03, BAN03, BIC01, BIC03, CN02, HED02.  If you look at the OFHS website it will show you the parishes covered on all these CDs.  I have checked the burial indices on each one looking at Scarrott/Scarrot/Scarriot/Scarriott/Skarriot (and even Scarlett) variants.

hi steph thanks very much for your time and effort  reuben scarrott christened 4th may 1842 charlbury married susannah rowles sept 13 1863 parish church of burford both aged 21. i have found the birth of thier 1st child born esther ellen scarrott born june 1863 penzance cornwall page 5c 364. next birth hannah maria scarrott born june 1865 west bromwich  6b 777. next birth  reuben scarrott birth sept 1868 cirencester page 6a 344.  i have sent of for these birth certs so when i get them hopefully they will have reuben scarrott  and susannah rowles on the certs as mother and father. as to susannah scarrotts remarriege to elias smith on sept 28th 1879 at burford susannah is aged 35 classed as a widow. but she could still have married bigamously to elias smith. as thier was no death recorded for reuben scarrott beetween 1870 and 1880. so reuben who died may 7th 1902 could be the 1 were looking for would it give us anymore info if i sent for reubens death cert from 1902 thanks tony bond.
