Llanfaes Baptism Lookup Please

Hi,

Is there any one with access to the Llanfeas PRs that would be kind enough to do a look up please?
Am looking for the baptism of Abigail HUGHES c1821 Possible father David HUGHES, mother unknown.

No luck in 1841 census for Breconshire.
However I did find Llanfaes which was on Anglesey??

Thanks for that. I have her in 1851, but she is a live in servant. Can not find her 1841 either. I know she married George GUNTHORPE 3 Aug 1851 in Llangattock, Brecon, as I have the marriage cert. It states her father was David HUGHES, but I can go back no further than that.

Yes, I beleive it is in Anglesey, but I am many miles away from there, so can not check the records.

Dear Geoff_43

There was, and still is a Llanfaes in Brecon.  This was in the County of Breconshire or sometimes seen as Brecknockshire, (Brecon is now in the County of Powys in Mid Wales).

I didn't find Abigail in 1841 either   

But in the 1861 Census Abigail & George Gunthorpe are living in Catherine Street, Hereford with 2 daughters and a son.  It states that she was born in Llanfaes, Brecon. 
(Ref: RG09  Piece 1819   Folio 45   Page38)

In 1871 they are still in Catherine Street, Hereford  (Surname transcribed as GUMTHORP). 
It states that Abigail was born in St David's, Brecon    (Ref: RG10   Piece 2696   Folio 49  Page 41)

In 1881 they are at 63, Catherine Street, Hereford and Abigail is transcribed as Abigale and born in Brecon.      (Ref:  RG11 Piece 2593  Folio 51  Page 38)

Hi Alltcafan,

Thanks for that.  It looks like I need the Brecon Llanfeas, I am embarrassed to admit my knowledge of the geography of this area is lacking, but am trying to put that right. I think I now have her in 1841, as a servant in Crickhowell, Brecon. Again no parents are shown. Very frustrating as she is a direct line of mine.

Now have her in all census, but all I know of her parents is her father is stated as David HUGHES on her marriage cert.

It looks like you may be in luck, as the Christenings/Baptisms for Brecon St David is covered for 1820 ish.  If I get time in the next week or so I’ll call in to the archives (if you wish me to do so) and have a look for you.
