Looking for James Pickles
« on: Saturday 17 December 11 17:15 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the death record for my 3x great grandfather James Pickles.

He was born on 5 March 1819 in Haworth, West Yorkshire and was the third child of William and Sarah Pickles (formerly Naylor).

He married Mary Anne Heaton on 13 September 1841 and had six children between 1845 and 1858.  The youngest one is my 2x great grandfather was born on 2 November 1858.  I have his birth certificate.

He appears on the 1851 census along with his wife and children but after that I can find no trace so I am assuming he died before the 1861 census.

I have looked several times on ancestry but I can't find anything that fits.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Hi,

Mary shown as a widow so James died 1861 - 1871 or he's left her and she a "widow" to save face.

1881 census she is also shown as a widow.

Have you eliminated the two James Pickles deaths in the 1st quarter of 1863, in Keighley R.D (both on freeBMD) ??

Hi, I think that this may be a connection with my Pickles family. My great grandmother on my grandfather Harwood side is a Pickles from the Hebdon Bridge  and your names sound familiar. Do you recall any Harwoods?
