An Octogenarian named Harris 1907-2007
« on: Sunday 18 December 11 12:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, there was a man named Frederick Harold Harris who owned Oxleaze Farm South Marston for a lifetime, his Birth was Reg,d at Witney in 1907 1st Q Vol,3a Page 1105,he passed away in Swindon in early 2008.
Known to all as "Dick,"I bought a Tractor from him in the 90,s and recently decided to find out who he really was,but beyond his Birth and Marriage I have no idea who his father was, who, I remember as "Grampy Harris" the farmer who lived in Lower Stratton alongside Stratton Wharf on the disused Canal in the 1940,s.
"Dick" married Elsie Lilian Henfrey in 4th Q 1932 at Chipping Norton and I have tried looking thro the 1911 Census with no avail, just to try finding Grampy Harris,s location and given name.
I am using the Wiltshire Board because this is where the family finished up!!
and would be very grateful if anyone could guide me further please.
Allen.

Hi all, thanks to "isy"  Gramp Harris  was in fact Christian named   JOHN  Harris.
and that led me through to the Censuses to find the family were centered around Aston Oxfordshire for many years.
I am very Grateful for the help supplied and wish all Rootschatters a Happy New Year.
