Holy Trinity Cemetery, Ystalyfera
« on: Tuesday 03 January 12 21:48 GMT (UK) »
I've just come back from a visit to Holy Trinity in Panteg, Ystalyfera to find a grave of a family member, without much luck. I knew that the church is not standing anymore, but was completely shocked with what I found.

I did not expect the lower part of the churchyard to be as overgrown as it was! At one point I was expecting to see Ant & Dec in there! It was more suited to Steve Irwin!

I know that Swansea Records Office holds marriage registers for Holy Trinity, but does anyone know where I can find details of burials?

Thanks,
David.

Ystradgynlais Family History Society have the burials (1868 - 1955) on CD for £15
CD covers
HOLY TRINITY
ST DAVIDS
PART OF ST JAMES
HOLY TRINITY BAPTISMS 1874 - 1955
HOLY TRINITY MARRIAGES 1859 - 1955
ST DAVID'S BAPTISMS 1890 -1955
ST DAVID'S MARRIAGES 1903 - 1955
YSTALYFERA BURIALS 1868 -1955

It is extracted from from parish records, so does not have monumental inscriptions.

Without this CD I would never have been able to trace my Jones ancestry, it was best £15 worth.

When you visited did you also look in Alltygrug Cemetery up on tne mountainside above Ystalyfera.

Nearly all my family who died in Ystalyfera in 1900s are buried there.

Although very hard to find it is well maintained and laid out in an orderly manner which makes searching through much easier than many other graveyards.

Hi Dave.

Yes I did. Quite a few on my ancestors are buried up there. But going back to the disc, I wonder where they got the parish records for Holy Trinity baptisms from? I know Swansea RO has the marriages book but NOT the baptisms.

Is there anywhere in Neath, like the civic centre that would have them? Or would it be in Aberystwyth?
