Hi Rob - No he's not there, but there's a strong possiblity that many of the Vaughans listed will be related, maybe even the 1777 Thomas Vaughan.  There's a son Thomas (1824)that I don't see in your list, maybe he died before the census.  The 1841 census wasn't very accurate with regard to age, you probably know that.  I had all the teenagers in one of my family groups all listed as age 15, it was a head count, and of course not giving any hint as to the relationship to each other can be another stumbling block.  He may actually be there in the parish records, his marriage too.  I may go to the record office in Hereford again before the end of the month, I'll try and have a look at the registers around 1800.  fred

Hiya Rob.... familysearch - search - advanced search
as William b 1824 was the firstborn - I put in
Thomas Vaughan
Ann
1819 to 1824

7 results ....only ONE in Herefordshire
Extracted Record
25th july 1823 Leominster,Herefordshire , England
Thomas Vaughan to Ann Griffiths
don`t know how far Leominster is from Hope Under Dinmore , but it may be worth making a note of the marriage in case Ann Griffiths pops up in future research

http://leominster.2day.ws/leominster/section/HopeUnderDinmore/

it would appear that that marriage is a very good possibility as Hope Under Dinmore comes under Leominster...that was pure luck ...lol

Hello.  I have just noticed your query about the Vaughans from Hope Under Dinmore, dated January 2012.  I just wonder if you managed to find the information you required.  I've been researching the Vaughan family for a number of years.  My Vaughan ancestors lived at HUD for generations and I live just 10 miles away.  I've traced my ancestry back to a marriage between Thomas Vaughan and Margaret Durham at Birley (the next village to Hope) in 1770. Although the names you mention were not my direct ancestors, I think they were cousins.  If you're still wanting information, do let me know and I'll see if I can help. Most of the Vaughans worked on the Hampton Court Estate and there are very good records available locally, as well as school records.

Good morning
I am still looking for information to the Vaughans of Hope Under Dinmore

George my gggf proves to be illusive in the census
I believe George born between 1836 and 1839 (according to ages in census) was a miller whilst in Hereford and was the son of Thomas (born about 1799) and Ann
From the census  Georges siblings were Emma , Samuel , Susan and Philip (1841 census)
1851 he is possibly a visitor
1861 Living with a brother Thomas and Ruth in Weobley
1871 Fownhope married to Harriet
1891 in Birmingham
George died in 1909 in Kings Norton in Birmingham about a mile from where i live now

If you can provide any further information i would be grateful
Many thanks
Rob
